Instantaneous rate of flow

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013197

A polarographic quantity: how fast the mass of a growing drop at a dropping electrode is increasing at a chosen moment t seconds after the drop began to form. For a dropping mercury electrode it is a mass per unit time, usually milligrams per second, and with the density of mercury it fixes how fast the drop surface area grows. It is not the volumetric flow rate of a mobile phase or electrolyte.
