Mercury flow system
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013271
An apparatus used in chemical vapor generation for the analysis of mercury, where a carrier gas transports mercury vapor from a reaction vessel to a detector. The system typically involves the chemical reduction of mercury ions in a liquid sample to elemental mercury, which is then purged from the solution by the gas flow. Unlike systems for hydride-forming elements, this process does not require a quartz tube atomizer for thermal decomposition before detection.
