Collection gas flow system

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002208

A system for chemical vapour generation in which the gaseous analyte is swept by a carrier gas to a collector, such as an amalgamator, a cold trap, an absorbing solution, a heated electrothermal atomizer, or a reservoir, instead of passing straight to the detector. The collected analyte is released or measured afterwards. Mercury is the classic case, trapped on gold as an amalgam and then freed by heating.
