Chemical vapour generation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001970
A process for converting an analyte into a volatile form for transport to an atomization or excitation cell in spectrochemical analysis. The analyte is transformed into a gaseous compound through a chemical reaction, which is then separated from the sample matrix and carried by a gas stream. This technique includes hydride generation, where elements like arsenic form AsH3, and cold vapour generation, used specifically for mercury.
