Generation time
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004826
The average time required for a population of cells or organisms to double in number under specific growth conditions. This parameter is a measure of the growth rate of a microbial culture. For bacteria, generation times can range from minutes to several hours, depending on the species and environmental factors.
