F1 generation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004319
The first filial generation of offspring resulting from a cross between two distinct parental organisms (the P generation). In toxicology and genetics studies, these individuals are the direct descendants of the initial breeding pair being investigated. The characteristics of the F1 generation are analyzed to determine the effects of parental exposure to a substance or to study the inheritance patterns of specific traits according to Mendelian genetics.
