Mendelian inheritance
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007175
The fundamental principles of heredity describing how traits are passed from parents to offspring, based on the work of Gregor Mendel. These principles include the law of segregation, stating that alleles for each gene separate during gamete formation, and the law of independent assortment, indicating that genes for different traits assort independently. This forms the basis of classical genetics.
