Meiotic drive

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007146

A phenomenon in which certain alleles are transmitted to more than half of the gametes during meiosis, violating Mendel's law of segregation. This biased transmission can lead to an increase in the frequency of the favored allele in a population. It is a form of intragenomic conflict.
