Mendelism

The set of principles of heredity discovered by Gregor Mendel, which describe how genetic traits are passed from parents to offspring. These principles include the law of segregation and the law of independent assortment, explaining the inheritance patterns of discrete characteristics. Mendel's work laid the foundation for modern genetics.
