Weismannism

The biological theory proposed by August Weismann, which states that hereditary information is transmitted only by germ cells (sperm and egg cells), not by somatic cells. This concept, known as the germ plasm theory, refutes the inheritance of acquired characteristics. It was a foundational idea in the development of modern genetics and evolutionary biology.
