Primordial germ cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009464
Precursor cells that are set aside early in embryonic development and eventually differentiate into gametes (sperm or eggs). These cells migrate to the developing gonads, where they undergo further proliferation and differentiation. They are the foundation of the germ line and transmit genetic information to the next generation.
