Neuroblast

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007864

An immature, dividing cell that is a precursor to a neuron or, in some cases, a glial cell. Neuroblasts undergo proliferation and then migrate to their final destination within the developing nervous system, where they differentiate into mature, non-dividing neurons. The presence of neuroblasts is characteristic of embryonic and fetal neurogenesis, but they also persist in specific regions of the adult brain.
