NG2 cell

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007935

A type of glial cell in the central nervous system that expresses the neural glial antigen 2 (NG2) proteoglycan. These cells are oligodendrocyte precursor cells, meaning they can differentiate into oligodendrocytes, which produce myelin. They also exhibit properties of pericytes and can form synapses with neurons, contributing to neural plasticity.
