Neural crest
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007852
A transient, multipotent cell population that arises from the dorsal neural tube during vertebrate embryonic development. These cells migrate extensively throughout the embryo and differentiate into a wide array of cell types, including neurons, glial cells, melanocytes, and craniofacial cartilage. The neural crest is often referred to as the fourth germ layer.
