Neuroectoderm

A specialized region of the embryonic ectoderm that gives rise to the entire nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. This tissue differentiates early in development, forming the neural plate which then folds to create the neural tube. It also contributes to the formation of the neural crest.
