Alar plate
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000362
A dorsal region of the neural tube in the developing embryo, responsible for forming sensory neurons and interneurons of the central nervous system. It is distinct from the basal plate, which gives rise to motor neurons. The alar plate contributes to the development of the dorsal horn of the spinal cord and sensory areas of the brain.
