Motor system

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007601

The parts of the central and peripheral nervous system that are responsible for controlling voluntary and involuntary movement. It includes the motor cortex in the brain, the cerebellum, basal ganglia, brainstem, and spinal cord, as well as the motor neurons that transmit signals from these centers to the muscles. Neurotoxicants can affect this system at multiple levels, leading to symptoms such as weakness, tremors, paralysis, or loss of coordination.
