Mott transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007602
A metal-insulator transition driven by strong electron-electron correlations, where the Coulomb repulsion between electrons prevents them from moving freely, even in a partially filled band. This transition occurs when the kinetic energy of electrons is overcome by their potential energy. Materials like vanadium dioxide exhibit this type of transition.
