Motor neuron
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007599
A nerve cell that originates in the central nervous system and extends its axon to a muscle or gland, thereby controlling its function. These neurons transmit electrical signals from the brain and spinal cord to effector organs, initiating movement or secretion.
