Motor endplate
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007598
A specialized region of the muscle fiber membrane that forms a synapse with the axon terminal of a motor neuron. This neuromuscular junction is where the neurotransmitter acetylcholine is released, triggering muscle contraction. It is characterized by numerous folds and receptors for efficient signal transmission.
