Cholinergic

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002019

Relating to nerve cells or receptors that use acetylcholine as their neurotransmitter. Cholinergic neurons synthesize and release acetylcholine, which then binds to specific receptors on target cells to transmit signals. This system is involved in numerous bodily functions, including muscle contraction, learning, and memory, and is a target for many pharmacological agents.
