Nicotinic receptor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007939
A type of cholinergic receptor that responds to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and is also activated by nicotine. These receptors are ligand-gated ion channels that, upon activation, allow the passage of cations like sodium and potassium across the cell membrane. They are located at the neuromuscular junction, in autonomic ganglia, and within the central nervous system.
