Γ-aminobutyric acid receptor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004748
A class of receptors that respond to the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. These receptors are ligand-gated ion channels or G protein-coupled receptors that modulate neuronal excitability. Activation of GABA receptors leads to a decrease in neuronal activity, often through chloride ion influx.
