Gamma relaxation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004749

A secondary relaxation process observed in polymers, occurring at temperatures below the glass transition temperature. This relaxation is associated with localized motions of small segments of the polymer chain, such as side groups or short main-chain segments. It is typically detected as a peak in the mechanical or dielectric loss curve at a specific frequency and temperature.
