Alpha relaxation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000445

The primary glass transition relaxation observed in amorphous polymers, associated with large-scale cooperative segmental motions of the polymer backbone. This relaxation occurs at the glass transition temperature (Tg) and is responsible for the transition from a rigid, glassy state to a more flexible, rubbery state. It is typically detected by dynamic mechanical analysis or differential scanning calorimetry.
