Secondary relaxation peak

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010629

A peak observed in the mechanical or dielectric loss spectrum of a polymer at temperatures below the glass transition temperature. This peak corresponds to a secondary relaxation process, which involves localized molecular motions of small chain segments or side groups. The position and intensity of the peak provide information about the molecular dynamics within the glassy state.
