Acetylcholine receptor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000124
A protein embedded in the cell membrane that binds to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, initiating a cellular response. These receptors are classified into two main types: nicotinic and muscarinic, based on their pharmacological properties. Nicotinic receptors are ligand-gated ion channels, while muscarinic receptors are G protein-coupled receptors.
