Ionotropic receptor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006141
A type of receptor that forms an ion channel pore, allowing ions to flow directly across the cell membrane when a specific ligand binds. This direct coupling of ligand binding to ion channel opening results in rapid cellular responses. Examples include nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and GABA-A receptors.
