Nido-
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007940
A prefix used in inorganic nomenclature to describe a cluster compound that has a cage structure derived from a closed (closo-) structure by removing one vertex. This results in a cluster that is nearly closed but has one open face. Nido-clusters typically have n+2 skeletal electron pairs, where n is the number of vertices in the cluster framework.
