Closo-

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012983

A prefix used in inorganic nomenclature to denote a closed polyhedral cluster of atoms, particularly in boron hydrides and related compounds. In a closo-structure, all vertices of the polyhedron are occupied by atoms, forming a completely enclosed cage. This structural motif is common in borane anions like B6H6^2-.
