Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002818

A prefix used in chemical nomenclature to denote the presence of a ring of atoms within a molecule's structure. It is applied to both organic compounds, such as cyclohexane, and inorganic compounds. The prefix is also used to describe a reaction mechanism that proceeds through a cyclic transition state, as in the term pericyclic reaction.
