Cycloalkanes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002819
Saturated monocyclic hydrocarbons containing a ring of three or more carbon atoms joined by single bonds. These alicyclic compounds have the general formula CnH2n and are named by prefixing 'cyclo-' to the name of the corresponding open-chain alkane with the same number of carbon atoms. Cyclopropane (C3H6) and cyclohexane (C6H12) are the simplest and one of the most stable members of this class, respectively.
