Cycloalkyl groups
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002820
Univalent groups derived from cycloalkanes by the formal removal of one hydrogen atom from a ring carbon atom. These saturated monocyclic hydrocarbon groups are named by replacing the '-ane' suffix of the corresponding cycloalkane with '-yl'. For example, the group derived from cyclohexane is the cyclohexyl group, C6H11−, and the group from cyclopropane is the cyclopropyl group, C3H5−.
