Arylene groups
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000825
Divalent organic groups derived from an aromatic hydrocarbon by the removal of two hydrogen atoms from ring carbons. These groups can have the two free valencies on adjacent carbons (ortho), separated by one carbon (meta), or on opposite carbons (para). The phenylene group derived from benzene is a common example.
