Alkylenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000404
Divalent groups derived from alkanes by the removal of two hydrogen atoms from different carbon atoms, forming a diradical or a bridging unit. These groups are often encountered in polymer chemistry as repeating units in the backbone of macromolecules. For example, the methylene group (-CH2-) is a common alkylene unit.
