Hydrocarbylidene groups
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005457
Divalent substituents made only of carbon and hydrogen, obtained when a single carbon of a hydrocarbon loses two hydrogen atoms and so attaches to the rest of the molecule by a double bond. Methylidene, CH2=, and ethylidene, CH3CH=, are examples. Alkylidene groups, derived from alkanes, form a subset of this class.
