Arenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000777
A class of aromatic hydrocarbons characterized by one or more benzene rings. These compounds exhibit enhanced stability due to the delocalization of pi electrons within the cyclic system. Benzene, toluene, and naphthalene are common examples of arenes, widely used as solvents and starting materials in organic synthesis.
