Π-electron donor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013379
A chemical species that possesses a high-energy pi (π) electron system, making it capable of donating these electrons to an electron acceptor. These compounds typically contain double or triple bonds, or aromatic rings, which provide a source of delocalized electrons. Examples include alkenes, alkynes, and electron-rich aromatic compounds like benzene derivatives.
