Alkynes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000410
Unsaturated hydrocarbons that contain at least one carbon-carbon triple bond (C≡C) in their structure. These compounds can be acyclic (forming a chain) or cyclic, and those with a single triple bond and no rings follow the general formula CnH2n-2. The simplest member of the alkyne class is ethyne (C2H2), which is widely known by its non-systematic name, acetylene.
