Alkylidynes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000409
A class of reactive intermediates with the general structure RC⋮, where a carbon atom is singly bonded to an alkyl group and possesses three non-bonded electrons. These monovalent species are the alkyl-substituted derivatives of the parent methylidyne radical, HC⋮. Alkylidynes are considered the monovalent analogues of divalent carbenes, which have the general structure R₂C:.
