Carbynes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012948
Neutral species built on a carbon atom that forms a single bond and carries three nonbonding electrons, the parent being methylidyne, HC:, and the others its substituted forms RC:, with no implication about spin pairing. The parent CH radical is well known in flames and in interstellar space. Carbynes should not be confused with the carbyne complexes of transition metals, which contain an M-C triple bond.
