Carbene radical cations
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012943
Radical cations R2C.+ of carbenes, in which the carbon carries two substituents and a single nonbonding electron, formally made by removing one electron from a carbene. The parent H2C.+ is named methyliumyl. They are extremely reactive intermediates, so they are generated and observed in the gas phase or in matrices at low temperature.
