Metal-carbene complexes

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007251

Organometallic compounds featuring a metal center bonded to a carbene ligand, which is a carbon atom double-bonded to the metal. These complexes are categorized into Fischer carbenes, which are electrophilic at the carbene carbon, and Schrock carbenes, which are nucleophilic. They are widely employed as catalysts in olefin metathesis and other organic transformations.
