Arsanylidenes

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000793

Carbene analogues of the form R-As:, in which a monosubstituted arsenic atom carries a lone pair and two further nonbonding electrons, leaving six electrons around arsenic. The parent H-As: is arsanylidene, with arsinidene as a common non-IUPAC synonym and arsinediyl as the former recommended name. They are reactive intermediates, the arsenic counterparts of carbenes and nitrenes.
