Arsonic acids
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000797
Organoarsenic(V) acids of the type RAs(=O)(OH)2, in which arsenic carries one hydrocarbyl group, one oxo group, and two hydroxyl groups, with HAs(=O)(OH)2 as parent. They are the arsenic analogues of phosphonic acids and are diprotic, with a first pKa typically near 3 to 4 and a second near 8 to 9. Phenylarsonic acid and the livestock feed additive roxarsone are examples.
