Azonic acids
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001056
Compounds of the type RN+(O-)(OH)2, obtained from the parent HN+(O-)(OH)2 by hydrocarbyl substitution on nitrogen, so that nitrogen carries one hydrocarbyl group and three oxygen atoms. They are the nitrogen counterparts of phosphonic acids, RP(=O)(OH)2. The compounds called nitrolic acids, RC(=NOH)NO2, belong to a different class and are not azonic acids.
