Borinic acids

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001441

Organoboron compounds with the general formula R2BOH, where two organic groups are attached to a boron atom that is also bonded to a hydroxyl group. They are derivatives of boric acid, B(OH)3, in which two hydroxyl groups have been replaced by hydrocarbyl or other organic substituents. Borinic acids and their corresponding esters (borinates, R2BOR') are used as intermediates in organic synthesis, for example, in cross-coupling reactions.
