Stibanylidenes

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011409

Reactive antimony species of the formula RSb:, in which antimony carries one organic substituent, named as carbene analogues and best viewed as the heavy-pnictogen counterpart of a nitrene or phosphinidene. They are typically seen only as transient species, or as ligands stabilized by bulky groups or by a transition metal. The older IUPAC name was stibinediyl, and stibinidene is a common non-IUPAC synonym.
