Bond number
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001418
The number of electron pairs forming the covalent bond between two atoms in a Lewis formula representation of a molecule. It is an integer value that describes the multiplicity of the connection. For example, the bond number is 1 for a single bond (as in H-H), 2 for a double bond (as in O=O), and 3 for a triple bond (as in N≡N).
