Lewis basicity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006549
The ability of a chemical species to donate an electron pair to another molecule or ion, forming a coordinate covalent bond. This property is quantified by the stability of the Lewis adduct formed. Stronger Lewis bases readily donate electron pairs, leading to more stable adducts.
